SHURA is an award-winning poet, spoken word artist, and retired entertainment attorney whose artistry is rooted in the power of language, lived experience, and truth.
For years, Shura built a distinguished career navigating the worlds of entertainment, advocacy, and creative expression. Now, she steps from behind the scenes to the microphone, bringing a lifetime of perspective to her debut EP, "Shh...Shura Has Something to Say."
Blending the intimacy of poetry with the rhythm and emotional resonance of music, Shura delivers spoken word that is thoughtful, provocative, sophisticated, and deeply human. Her work explores love, identity, culture, relationships, resilience, and the complexities that connect us all.
This debut represents more than the arrival of a new artist. It is the emergence of a seasoned voice—one shaped by experience, sharpened by intellect, and liberated through artistic expression.

Peace And One Love
No matter what race, religion, gender, ethnicity, all sane people want to live in a world free of the constant threat of nuclear war and annihilation. "We want peace and one love; no nukes no kooks, fire falling from above."
Breathing While Black
Percussive, pulsating, cinematic music reminiscent of a soundtrack from an action film pushes the delivery of true examples of trauma and violence Black people have experienced simply because "breathing while black is a crime." Even the most empathetic ally can't comprehend what it feels like to know that at any time Black children, women and men can be "punished for something in someone's mind." Shura's powerful poetry remains in memory long after the last words are spoken.
Power
"The one who loves the most has the least power." This passionate, melodic ballad asks: "Can you love too hard, too much?" Shura shares the thrill and challenges of truly loving someone in this emotional spoken word offering.
My Story
Shura shares her N'gala Geechee culture in this joyful song. Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina where sea islands, west African inspired recipes, traditions and distinct languages coalesce. "My Story" celebrates Shura's unique heritage. Vivid N'gala Geechee words set to soulful rhythms transport listeners to a lovely time and place.
Urgent
As a poet, Shura expresses the urgent need to meet the times and never give up. Pumping, dance music punctuate her words and phrases. Feet feel the beat. Hearts and minds absorb the message. "Persistent, part of the resistance to tyranny."

Peace And One Love
In “Peace And One Love,” SHURA delivers an urgent poetic reflection on a world increasingly divided by fear, conflict, hatred, and uncertainty. Her words challenge us to look beyond the forces that separate us and recognize the humanity we share. At its heart is a message both simple and profound: even in the face of darkness, we still have the power to choose compassion over division, understanding over fear, and peace and one love above all. The film, gives SHURA’s words a visual landscape—allowing the imagery to amplify the poetry while keeping its message firmly at the center.
Power
In "Power," SHURA explores the intoxicating and sometimes dangerous imbalance that emerges when love, desire, and devotion become their own form of currency. With wit, vulnerability, and an unmistakable sense of self-awareness, her words examine what it means to be desired, idealized, and given emotional power over another person—and the responsibility that comes with it. Beneath the confidence is a more intimate question: when someone gives you their heart, how much power is too much? Power places SHURA's words at the center, using expressive typography to underscore the tension between attraction, vulnerability, and control.
The Producer

Memphis-born Phred Mosbey came of age during the legendary Stax Records era, an influence that helped shape a career spanning music, production, and film. As a teenager, he recorded as an artist and songwriter for Willie Mitchell's Hi Records before going on to tour internationally as a keyboardist, programmer, and musical director with artists including Earth, Wind & Fire, Bell Biv DeVoe, Babyface & After 7, and New Edition.
Through his Anutha Records and Anutha Song Publishing companies, Mosbey produced Memphis vocal group Jus Cauze', whose "Come Out and Play" reached No. 17 on the Billboard charts. Decades later, another Jus Cauze' composition from his publishing catalog was sampled by Drake for the 2026 track "Classic."
A 20-year voting member of the Recording Academy, Mosbey continues to create across music and film. He is currently directing and producing the documentary " I Belong To You - The Story of Love Unlimited and Barry White."
For SHURA's debut spoken-word EP, Shh…SHURA Has Something To Say, Mosbey serves as co-writer, composer, producer, and engineer, helping shape a project that brings SHURA's poetry and voice together with an original musical landscape.
